What is Physiatry?
Physiatrists or rehabilitation medical physicians, are nerve, muscle, and bone experts who treat injuries or illnesses that affect how one functions – particularly activities of daily living. Physiatrists work closely with physical and occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, orthotists and prosthetists, psychologists, nurses and social workers to form a united multi-disciplinary care plan for the rehabilitation patient.
Our Passion… is to aid those in pain and in need, particularly those postinjury. We specialize in Regenerative and Pain Medicine. Whether it be lower back, shoulder, knee, hip pain, sports injuries, post stroke, traumatic brain injury or spine injury, we individualize your treatment plan with a focus on functional restoration. Frequently, patients are quick to choose more invasive treatment protocols such as surgeries as a sole treatment plan. Our goal is to treat the patient as conservatively as possible, and make him/her aware of all their options before undergoing major surgery. We focus on utilizing a multidisciplinary approach to optimize the patient’s function by integrating physical therapy and interventional techniques to yield the most favorable patient outcomes.
